We wanted to let you know this branch has nominated Rob Birch, Julie Lawton, Nicola Moran, Deanne Wheeler, Phil Williams and Karen Poole for the upcoming NEC elections.
The NEC is a group of elected members who work closely with UNISON’s staff leadership. Their decisions impact you, so it’s crucial the NEC is made up of members who represent what you want from your union. Every two years, all members are invited to vote for who is on the NEC. This year’s vote takes place from 21st April-21st May.
Rob, Julie, Nicola and Deanne are all part of Members Together – a group of members who want our union to put members first. They know UNISON’s NEC must focus more on issues that matter to members, and have pledged the following:
- Help and Support
Making sure there is always someone there if you need help or support at work by ensuring there are enough reps to represent you in your workplace.
- Advice
Providing advice from the union when you need it, by improving the member helpline.
- Better Pay & Conditions
Ensuring all parts of the union have the resources and support they need to negotiate better pay, terms and conditions with your employer.
- Value for Money
Delivering value for money – keeping the subs you pay for union membership as low as possible.
- Strong Campaigns
Ensuring that, regardless which party is in government, UNISON campaigns on issues you care about most – jobs, your rights at work, cost of living and investment in public services.
Every member is encouraged to vote in these important elections and you will receive a ballot form as well as election addresses from each candidate so you can make an informed decision.
Ballot papers are being posted in batches, via second class mail, from 21st April so it may be a few days before you receive your ballot. If you haven’t received your ballot papers by 30th April, please contact UNISONdirect on 0800 0857 857. Voting closes on 21st May so please make sure your ballot papers are returned in the pre-paid envelope and received before this date.
Thank you,
