Yesterday the Branch received a number of phone calls with reference to PCSOs wearing baseball caps when it is hot and sunny.
Just to confirm that in the “UNIFORM POLICY” it states that you need a Superintendents authority before wearing them. However during a meeting with the Chief Constable, Unison asked if the rank could be reduced, the Chief agreed to lower this to a Chief Inspector.
We cannot stress enough – please do not misuse this by wearing the caps on a rainy day, unless you are on a push bike, the caps are for hot weather only!
