Unison have discussed the potential issues and problems associated with giving out the private mobile phone numbers to victims or crime and other vulnerable people with Professional Standards. They have asked us to reiterate the following to our members :- 1 – It would almost never be appropriate to pass a private mobile phone number to a person you have made contact with through the course of your duty. If a there is an overlap best practice is to notify your line manager straight away. 2 – It will never be appropriate to form a sexual or emotional relationship with a victim of domestic violence or a vulnerable person. If you are approached please contact your line manager. 3 – If you have any concerns regarding colleagues breaching 1 or 2 please report to a line manager straight away or speak with Unison in confidence.
